The City of Kawartha Lakes says The Loomex Group has taken over management and operation services of the Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport.

With more than 100 years of combined staff experience in aviation, emergency management and marketing experience to airports and aviation businesses, The Loomex Group will continue to raise the profile of the Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport.

Under the new contract, The Loomex Group will work with tenants and organizations to promote and encourage growth of the local airport, report to the Airport Board on potential business, host events including fly-in breakfasts and shows, as well as attending community talks, meetings and events to promote the City's municipal airport.

A 2011 Economic Impact study concluded the Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport contributed approximately $6.8 million in total gross revenues generated through activities at the airport.

The local airport brings commerce to the region through visitors and tourism, courier service, flight training and charters, Med-Evac, emergency response to natural disasters and non-emergency patient transfers.
